Abstract

Based on the analysis of the main ideological controversies that in the eighties marked the prelude to the Argentine neoliberal turn, it investigates the formation and political action of three fundamental political-intellectual forces of the period (business, renovating peronist and socialist). It is concluded that the outcome of the confrontation between these tendencies of the Argentine intelligentsia, which defines the cultural coordinates on which neoliberalism later disembarks, is based on the crisis of political alternatives and the deepening of the historical weaknesses of a national popular policy that shows its greatest signs of exhaustion.
